Individual Client Eligibility: CRLAF provides free legal assistance, community education, training and advocacy support to and on behalf of indigent people, including immigrants, Latino farmworkers, and the rural poor. Individuals must demonstrate income at 125% of the federal poverty guidelines.
Case Acceptance: CRLAF considers cases in areas of the law considered especially important to rural low-income families and communities. Our priority areas include citizenship and immigration, education, environmental jsutice, labor and employment, rural health, rural housing, pesticides use and worker safety.
We look at the following questions when deciding to accept a case:
1) Does the client's income make him or her eligible for our legal services?
2) Does the legal problem fall within one of CRLAF's priority areas?
3) Will our involvement likely make a difference in the outcome of the case?
4) Will the case have a positive benefit not only for the client but for the larger community as well?
