CRLAF’s response to ‘Rape in the Fields’ was to sponsor a ground-breaking bill that attacked a widespread culture of sexual harassment of farm worker women.

The bill requires all agricultural licensees and their supervisors attend a combination of mandatory sexual harassment prevention training. The bill also requires employers provide training to farm workers in how to prevent, identify and report sexual harassment.

The bill also made more than a dozen other needed changes to the state Farm Labor Contractor Act.

SB 1087, authored by Sen. Bill Monning, D-Monterey.
