CRLA Foundation Stands with Survivors

Dear Friends,

The recent New York Times article about César Chávez’s sexual assault of women and children during his time as President of the United Farm Workers Union is devastating. CRLA Foundation unequivocally condemns sexual violence in any form. These abuses are in direct opposition to the work and collective power of the larger farmworker movement to advance the rights of farmworkers.

Every woman and child deserves to be respected and treated with dignity. No one is above reproach and accountability. Today, and for more than 45 years, CRLA Foundation stands with migrant and immigrant families, farmworker women and girls, and survivors of sexual violence whose pain is real and whose voices matter.

We honor survivors who have long carried their painful experiences in silence; we stand with them as they share their stories with hope for accountability, transformation, and healing. It is never too late to secure justice.

CRLA Foundation will always fight alongside those who have been harmed to ensure their rights, safety, and dignity are safeguarded.

En solidaridad,

Amagda Pérez

CRLAF Executive Director
